    From Solos to Sausages

    The Rockwurst
Now I’m really spaced. I’m really not sure what day it is. Arrived home yesterday afternoon from London, showered, opened up the house, watered a few plants, collected the mail and then got straight in the Green Tour machine and headed up to the studio in Massachusetts to oversee the first of the mixes for the new CD. Finally fell into bed around 10.00pm EST (actually slept IN the van I was so wiped!)

Today, feeling much better. Got up really early, around 7.00a.m. and found out that there is a Whole Foods organic place in the town of Bedford (next to Carlisle) so I joined the waifs and strays for a some great Sumatra coffee (my favorite). While there, I read an article in a magazine called ‘Wisdom’. It was all about Tantra Yoga and the gist of it was release yourself by surrendering to the chaos around you. I reckon I’m well onto this already!

I was first in the studio, which never happens, and by the time the studio folk came, I had already answered a ton of e mail. We completed the mix for one of my favorite songs on the CD by 4.00pm and now we are into the third mix. Mixing really is the fun part, when you get to assemble everything, which in the case of this album is music recorded in Finland, England and the USA. Our engineer, Giles, is e mailing MP3 copies of everything to the guys at the end of each day, the idea being that everyone can comment the next day and we can update as we go along. This is the beauty of the internet in action.

It’s amazing to think how quick things are running these days. I realized we visited Serbia, Holland, Germany, England in the last month and now I’m back in the States desperately trying to finish the album so that we can stay on schedule. The last few dates went really well despite the weather, which was pretty rainy. The Cambridge Rock Festival people were pretty smart since they held things indoors in a giant equestrian centre while the organisers at Hartenholm, Germany were very well prepared for any weather issues. The date there finished with a giant fireworks show which was a great way to mark the end of a summer of fun. Oh yes, and I must not forget the special German sausage created in my honor. Not a bockwurst but a rockwurst….I wonder if they’ll be able to get the buns made to the same shape. I love this business!
