    The Oyster Shot

Like Joe said, it’s a real heatwave here in the North West. Highest temperatures on record and all that. It just means that you have to take things a little slower, of course, and drink plenty of water. Personally, I'm a glutton for punishment and refuse to surrender to fears of sea-food poisoning. I see food / I eat it. Here's me drinking an oyster shot! Check out the multi-coloured nachos. American cuisine at it's finest.

I like it up here. The people are down to earth and the show last night rocked. What an enthusiastic crowd. We need more like this on the West Coast.

As we near the end of this little tour, I can’t thank our supporters enough for coming out on these, sometimes, long road trips to see the band. It’s like visiting family for us. We know so many of you now. I had friends from Connecticut visiting pre show last night. We were in the bar next to the Aladdin Theater and they were amazed at how people kept coming by to say ‘hi’. I’m never alone in a bar in America, that’s for sure.

Off to Tacoma today. Remember John Fahey? He’s a very original 12 string acoustic guitar player from the 60’s who started Tacoma Records. I still love his spooky guitar playing and he’s definitely been an influence. We’ll stop off today at the amazing Music Millenium record store where you can find absolutely anything recorded from anywhere. They have cool t-shirts too. The only place where certain artists like Randy Newman will ever do a live promo event – great place. We must have unloaded $500 between us on CDs and DVDs. I bought some Bill Frisell and some obscure movie soundtracks as well as comedy for the long drive home. Muddy bought Frankie Miller and the new Donovan CD, Beat Café. Joe bought some music from Madagascar and Bob copped some XXL Band and guitarist Tommy Emmanuel.

Terry, the store’s owner laid some t-shirts on us and loved the show last night, enquiring where and how I always manage to find these great guitar players (Mudman) . Terry’s an interesting cat in his own right. Last time we saw him, he was heading out to Transylvania for a vacation. This year he tells me he’s doing a tour of vintage amusement parks throughout America, before they all disappear.
