Paris was a stop off point. I'm soft when it comes to driving long distances. Where Andy is happy to do a 22 hour drive I begin to fall asleep after about 4. The plan was to catch an 11am ferry on Friday, spend Friday afternoon in Paris. Drive to the gig on Saturday. Drive back to Paris on Sunday and spend most of the day being a tourist. Then maybe get a few hours again on Monday before heading back to Calais.
We were doing fine until we got to within 30 miles of Paris. The remainder of the journey was spent crawling into town. We finally arrived at 8pm, lay down to rest for a few minutes and woke up at 10pm. So, Friday was a write off.
Saturday we drove to Le Creusot. The roads were lovely - stereotypical French countryside. Beautiful weather. Took about 4 hours to get there. Sound checked then lounged around in the park of the Chateau looking at the Peacocks trying to get it on with the ladies. There was one who stood with his feathers up for a good 10 minutes. His target just sat there and ignored him. After a while he decided that the front wasn't doing working so he turned around and did some serious ass shaking. I have no idea what he was thinking. It turned out she was a single mum - when she finally got up 4 chicks crawled out from under her.
The gig was fun. It seemed like such a long time since we'd played a show. Got back to the hotel around 3am.
Today (Sunday) the plan was to leave around 10am. We finally left at 12:30. The 4 hour drive turned into a 6 1/2 hour one. Made it into town to see the Eiffel Tower. The plan to walk up it was quickly abandoned when we realised it's actually quite a long way up. I opted to sit on a bench and watch other people do it. I'd have stayed there longer if I hadn't been crapped on by a bird.
Anyway, the point of this blog is to let you know I added another new toy to the Fans page. So long as more than one of you are on it at any given time you can slide a button and chat to each other. It's a bit strange but something new to play with. It's time for me to sleep....
