    Chan's

Definitely one of the strangest gigs we have ever played. John Chan runs this place called Chan's which is in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. It's more of a jazz and blues joint and has been so for 30 years. John, a charming gentleman and graduate from my son Rich's alma mater, Providence College, runs a nice venue which actually is also a Chinese restaurant! The likes of Coco Montoya and Joe Bonamassa regularly play there plus a lot of the jazz greats have graced it's tiny stage.

Great crowd, great food but you need to work on the green room, John, but otherwise a great little night out. Afterwards I signed a vintage Kay guitar for the man himself which had a ton of amazing names on it already. Then john showed me some of the very cool original modern art on the walls by respected American artists. Don't forget The Rhode island School of Art and design is just up the road in Providence.

The next day was free so we motored down to Newport to take a look at amazing mansions and the coastline which is exceptional. Daniel Vetter, our sound man, is a keen sailor so he was thrilled to view some of the boats at the boat show there. We did partake in a langourous lunch - gorging ourselves on lobster and other sea food. Great day!
