Wisdom of the Road: forget me not

I've only been a road warrior (that's what they call us) for just over 2 years. In that short time I've learned a few tips and tricks to make hotel living more streamlined.

If I can think of more than a couple of things then this might become a regular feature of the blog. I'm sure Bob, Andy and Muddy have some gems.

Today's tip is bring your own shampoo and soap (or preferably shower gel as it's easier to transport). The ones they supply in hotels are often rubbish. I don't have great hair as it is - it's pretty dry and hay-like and has a mind of its own. Washing it in fairy liquid (or whatever it is they put in those bottles) really doesn't help matters. It's a good idea to keep these in a plastic bag to stop potential leakage and dampness from ruining the other contents of your bag. Most importantly make sure you take it out of the shower when you finish. If you leave it behind when you get out you're likely to forget it. This will always happen on one of the first nights which makes it even more annoying as they're probably nearly full.

The other tip would be to leave anything else you think you might forget to take by the door, or by something you won't forget (like your shoes). As I type this I'm realising that I left my underpants hanging from a coathanger in the corner (as you do.) I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on eBay and see if I can get them back.
