Mentally Dumb

So I’m standing in Starbucks yesterday, waiting for my tall (small – which I don’t get at all) cappuccino and these two Connecticut ‘gals’, young moms, one heavily pregnant, are talking animatedly and very loudly, so we could all hear about their very important lives. (BTW for the record, normally, I’m a cuppa Joe, Dunkin’ Donuts kinda dude, eschewing Starbucks as over priced and pretentious).

Anway, one says to the other, who is giving rapt attention: “I just left my purse in the car – sometimes I do such dumb things. You know, I mean, as in mentally dumb.” This just floored me. I had to share it.

With the minimal human contact I get these days, when I’m off the road, I was really laughing out loud as I walked to the car with my coffee. ‘Mentally dumb’ as opposed to regularly dumb.

Loved that. It’s good to be home.
