The Duke's Pad
Having left the Home Counties for the West Country, I’m feeling mellower already. After our sold – out show, we had a relaxing day off in Milton Keynes with a second visit to the Stables by Muddy and myself for a classical concert by the Ludwig Trio, led by Peter Cropper. We heard a great program of Beethoven…Great gig in Poole, Dorset at Mr. Kyps, a really pro club, small but with great atmosphere. Met up with Mike and Maureen Perring who handed us a nice press article from one of the local papers.
Anyway, weirdly, I’ve slept in two four poster beds so far. Last night’s was very grand one in a room at the Bedford Arms Hotel in Tavistock, Devon. The town was the birthplace of famed sea farer, Sir Francis Drake. The hotel was originally connected with the Duke of Bedford back in the days of Oliver Cromwell. Many thanks to hotel manager, Michael, for arranging a late breakfast and a very enjoyable stay for us all.
