I was puzzled by a postcard with pictures of sheep on it. It's called the "fall asleep card" and it says:
Dear Guest,
If you are not asleep after counting all those sheep, we will pamper you with a cup of hot milk with honey.
Nice!! I'm going to be pampered.
I wondered who came up with this little extra. What a random thing to decide to get printed up and put in every room. Sure, it's a nice gesture and you feel like they're going the extra mile.
But just imagine that scenario.... you're trying to get to sleep and it's not happening....you suddenly remember the 'fall asleep card' and decide to count the sheep...you're still awake after counting the sheep....it's probably 3am or something for you to have resorted to using the 'fall asleep card'.....you decide to take them up on their kind offer to help you get to sleep. What next?
You turn the card over and it says:
You can purchase the "fall asleep cup" for EUR5, at our reception desk.
Bastards! It should be prefixed with "Congratulations! You've been fleeced...."
Not only are you not asleep when you'd like to be, but you're also annoyed that the hotel is trying to con you out of a fiver for a cup of milk. On top of that you have to go down to the reception desk in your underpants to get it.
I wonder how many people actually purchase the "fall asleep cup." I reckon the whole thing is the pet project of someone on work experience in the marketing department.
